Do Your Own Wednesday- Keep That Can Cool

Since this Saturday is going to be the first day I thought I would show yall my take on making a soda can cozy.

Yarn:

Carron Simply Soft  medium weight

Hook:

H (5mm)

Abbreviations:

Ch- Chain
DC- Double Crochet
SC- Single Crochet
SLST- Slip Stitch

I use the pattern from Love Me Do Crochet Shop Blog as the basis of my pattern. Row 1-4 belongs to their blog and is NOT mine. I know that their pattern is for a coffee cup cozy but it basically works for my pattern as well

Bottom of the cozy.
Row 1- Ch 4, and SlSt into beginning chain to create a loop. Ch 2, (counts as a DC), and then make 11 DC in the loop, join to the top of the CH 2. (12 DC total)
Row 2- Ch 2, make a DC in same stitch as the CH 2 just made, then make 2 DC in each stitch around, join to top of chain 2.
Row 3- Ch 2, make a DC in the same stitch as the CH 2 just made, then (1 DC in the next chain, 2 DC in the next), repeat the parenthesis all the way around, join.
Row 4- Ch 1, make 1 SC in front loops only in each stitch all the way around, join.
Row 5- ch 2, DC all the way around; join (repeat till desired height)
Once you reach the height you want: CH 1, SC all around; join and fasten off. Weave in ends

Now that yall know how to make your own soda can cozy, go make one for your friends and family.

Do Your Own Wednesday- Crochet Soap Holder

Today I will be showing you how to crochet a soap holder. I'm not sure where I got this pattern and I didn't create this pattern.

Yarn:
I have used the cheap Red Hart yarn brand for a rougher scrub. I have also used Caron Simply Soft yarn for a softer gentler scrub.

Hook:
US H (5.0 mm)

Abbreviations you will need to know
hdc- Half Double crochet
ch- chain
sc- single crochet
st- Stitch
sl st- slip stitch

ch 11
working in front loops only, hdc in second ch from hook
(sc in next st, hdc in next st) 4 times, there should be one ch left
(sc, hdc) in front loop of last ch, turn, the unworked back loops are now the front loops

(sc, hdc) in the front loop of the first st
(sc in next st, hdc in next st) 4 times, there should be one ch left (sc, hdc)in the last ch [Figure 3]

do not join, you will be working in a spiral; hdc in top ch just before the first hdc
(sc in next st, hdc in next st) around in a spiral until the bag is 4" high (or the height you want before the tie string)

Eyelets: (ch1, skip a st, sc in next st) around 2 times - on second round the sc will go in the ch spaces

Border: (sl st in next ch space, 3 hdc in next ch space) around, ending with a sl st in the first sl st. Clip yarn and weave in ends.

Tie String: ch 45, clip yarn and pull end through last ch. Pull ends tight and clip the ends to 1/4" and weave ends through bottom row of eyelets.

I hope you enjoyed Do Your Own Wednesday! Happy crocheting! :)
